About the Indiana Office of Technology (IOT):
The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the IOT Chief Information Officer, this senior role ensures the operational success of Indiana’s Executive Branch's technology infrastructure and support services. As the Chief IT Operating Officer, you'll oversee service delivery across the IT enterprise.
In this capacity, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day IT operations, ensuring system reliability and security, and overseeing a team of IT professionals. Your duties will include developing and implementing IT strategies, managing budgets, and coordinating with other state agencies and IOT groups to support their technological needs. Additionally, you will play a key role in disaster recovery planning, vendor management, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and efficiency.
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $154,518 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
- Oversee the strategic development and daily operations of the State’s technology infrastructure and support services with the goals of operational effectiveness coupled with cost-efficiency to deliver sustainable product and platform offerings that carry the greatest value for the State IT enterprise.
- Promote, provide, and sustain optimal operation of all client devices and end-user computing environments, including all related infrastructure components including data center operations, server hosting, networks, telecommunications, operating systems, and enterprise platforms.
- Lead and manage a positive experience with IT services, tools, processes, and support personnel that provides Executive Branch partners with a successful plan to support Indiana’s residents and businesses.
- Hold executive authority on the review and management of product needs for the IT enterprise, including a continual review and revision of the IOT product catalog to ensure that the agency’s efforts remain focused on value-added, sustainable IT solutions.
- Collaborate with chief executives on the execution of key quality service and performance metrics that accurately capture customer needs; develop strategies and guide IT operations managers and supervisors on improving performance against these metrics.
- Work with other IOT leadership, agency partner leaders and vendor partners to regularly review, analyze, and implement continued improvements to the IOT service delivery operation.
- Review, revise, and implement policies, practices, standards, and tools that support an easy-to-navigate, practical IT service experience that balances Executive Branch business needs with a sustainable IT enterprise strategy.
- Collaborate with chief executives and senior staff on an innovative approach to talent development that supports IT cross-experiential training and skill-building.
- Manage and maintain relationships with current and prospective vendors, including product manufacturers and services providers, to support the needs of IOT’s mission partners across Indiana.
- Manage and maintain the multimillion-dollar budget for IOT Operations product footprint with the goal of balancing service excellence with the identification of cost optimization and savings.
