We are recruiting for a Commercial Lines Underwriter (Renewal Underwriter) to join our team in the North. This role will sit hybrid in Farmington Hills, MI, Chicago, IL or Indianapolis, IN.
Position SummaryResponsible for evaluating and managing assigned accounts, maintaining a portfolio of renewal accounts, and making informed underwriting decisions in alignment with Amerisure’s risk appetite and strategic objectives. This role highlights data-driven risk assessment, effective negotiation, and collaboration with agency partners to achieve underwriting goals.
Responsibilities- Evaluate, underwrite, price, and negotiate assigned accounts in accordance with Amerisure risk evaluation process and renewal framework.
- Analyze and assess risk factors to ensure adherence to Amerisure’s underwriting philosophy.
- Provide service excellence to agency partners, adhering to established service standards to strengthen agency relationships and support business objectives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key agency contacts to facilitate effective negotiations and ensure successful account acquisition and retention.
- Attain established underwriting performance metrics for both new and renewal accounts.
- Maintain organized and thorough underwriting documentation in accordance with Amerisure’s standards and guidelines.
- Utilize underwriting tools to effectively support risk assessment and decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
- 1 year underwriting experience in commercial or middle market insurance.
- Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers.
- Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to travel up to 5%.
