Job Title: Korean Interpreter
Location: Onsite Indianapolis, IN
Job Type: Independent Contractor
Position Overview: The In-Person Interpreter is responsible for facilitating onsite communication for Limited English Proficient (LEP) community and the practitioners that serve them in various settings. This contract position offers flexibility and opportunities to grow your interpreting business with access to many sessions per day.
Job Functions- Provide effective onsite interpreting sessions professionally.
- Maintain a professional appearance and behavior, including punctuality and preparedness.
- Adapt quickly to new and changing situations.
- Follow interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting contexts.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work effectively in diverse environments.
- Respect and understand the LEP clients' culture, dialect, beliefs, and preferences.
- Show strong customer service and interpreting passion.
- Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and polite expressions.
- Render accurate concepts and meanings according to interpreter protocol.
- Fluent in both source and target languages, with strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and write in the requested languages.
- Excellent listening and retention skills for high accuracy.
- Degree or certifications in interpreting practices.
- Completion of Bridging The Gap Medical Interpreting Testing or accredited Medical Interpreting Training.
- National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI or NBCMI (preferred).
- Knowledge of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC).
- Must be at least 18 years old.
