The In‑Person Interpreter facilitates onsite communication for Limited English Proficient (LEP) community and practitioners in various settings. This contract position offers flexibility and numerous sessions per day.

• Provide effective onsite interpreting sessions in professional manner.
• Always exhibit professional appearance and behavior, including punctuality and preparedness for sessions.
• Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to new and changing situations.
• Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context.
• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
• Respect for and understanding of our Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients, culture, dialect, beliefs, and preferences.
• Strong aptitude and passion for customer service and interpreting.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Render exact and correct concepts and meanings according to interpreter protocol.

• Fluent with strong verbal communication skills in both the source and target language (Target language to English and vice‑versa).
• Ability to read and write in the requested languages.
• Excellent listening and retention skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation.
• Degree or certifications in interpreting practices.
• Successful completion of Bridging The Gap Medical Interpreting Testing or accredited Medical Interpreting Training course (i.e.: ALTA, MITS, MiTio, Cross‑Cultural training).
• National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI or NBCMI (highly preferred).
• Extensive knowledge of code of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI and NCIHC).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

$45.00 – $50.00 per hour
