Position DescriptionThe Indianapolis API site has a long legacy of operating at a high level of operational excellence and customer service in producing lifesaving medicines for many decades. We are currently executing a complex modernization and transformation effort across the site bringing new manufacturing processes and upgrading our systems and business processes in parallel. We are seeking a talented candidate to lead the site supply chain team and be central to continuous improvement across our planning and supply systems.
The Senior Director Supply Chain provides leadership and direction to the site supply chain, warehousing, and logistics organization to enable reliable supply of product to all customers. The role is responsible for supply chain planning, buying, customer service, logistics, and SAP master data and system support in addition to warehousing operations and internal logistics. The Senior Director Supply Chain converts forecasts into integrated production plans that provide optimal inventories and incorporate effective contingencies to manage risk.
The role is also responsible for recommending and maintaining inventory and safety stock strategies and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies. The Senior Director Supply Chain is responsible for developing the skills, organizational capabilities, and leadership ability of their staff through direct leadership, mentoring, technical and business training.
The Senior Director Supply Chain is a member of the Indianapolis API Site Lead Team. The Lead Team has collective responsibility to develop and implement the strategic direction, organizational capability and management of the site. Primarily, the members of the team drive the site toward achieving long term business objectives; they continuously develop the business and the organization for the future bearing in mind corporate objectives and the continuously changing external environment;
and they manage issues that span multiple teams in the organization and extend into the broader corporate/external context.
- Develop the business processes and lead the materials and production planning functions for the site. Oversee supply chain meetings to ensure production availability, shipment schedule, and resolution of delays/shortages.
- Establish and maintain supply and demand planning tools for scenario evaluation in cross-functional collaboration, including trackers and dashboards for communication to broader team to advise and inform manufacturing strategies and decisions.
- Owns the planning process for the site and integrate Supply Chain requirements into yearly strategic plan and business plan processes.
- Network globally to share best practices in order to ensure harmonization and alignment between sites. Identify gaps and inefficiencies for improvement.
- Ensure appropriate governance of master data (materials, BOMs, recipes, resources) throughout the site.
- Have oversight and responsibility for the day to day logistics and warehouse operations at the site.
- Maintain a safe working environment and conduct Warehouse/logistics activities in a manner that protects safety, environment and quality.
- Support and provide leadership to the area through site inspections.
- Serve as the key point of contact for the Global Supply Chain organization.
- Ensure robust processes are in place for buying/planning in order to meet production requirements; own the safety stock strategy for site materials.
- Develop process metrics and KPIs that measure effectiveness of planning process, provide visibility to improvement opportunities, and track progress of initiatives and goals.
