At JW Hicks, we are always looking for talented individuals to join our growing team in Knox, Indiana. JW Hicks is looking for a capable, motivated Commodities Buyer. We have a passion to produce the best refractory products on the market and are seeking individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit and heart for "Doing it Right."

• Monitor and analyze commodities markets and global economic conditions to make informed purchase decisions
• Participate in bidding and contract negotiations to obtain best pricing and quality of goods
• Manage supplier relations ships and service level agreements
• Identify, evaluate and monitor and manage suppliers to develop reliable sourcing
• Track receipts and evaluate supplier delivery performance
• Monitor and manage raw materials inventories and order accordingly
• Work with other departments to forecast required purchases
• Develop and maintain periodic reports as needed
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Effective interpersonal skills
• 3-5 years' experience with above responsibilities
• Basic computer literacy and working knowledge of software programs commonly used in business including ERP and Office tools
• Ability and willingness to learn
• Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical and drug screen prior to employment
• Strong organizational skills
• Awareness of packaging and transportation regulations, incoterms and methods by commodity type
