Job Title:
Logistics Specialist (Defense Radar Sustainment)
Job Description
Conduct comprehensive engineering and logistics research on electrical, mechanical, and commercial off-the-shelf components using technical data packages (TDPs), engineering drawings, military specifications (Mil-Specs), and standardized cataloging metrics such as NSNs, NIINs, and part numbers.
Proactively monitor vendor bases and technical bulletins to identify immediate and long-term obsolescence risks for critical components.
Evaluate parts availability, perform predictive obsolescence forecasting, and record findings in dedicated asset tracking and supply chain systems.
Collaborate with defense engineering teams and certified vendors to develop mitigation pathways for obsolete components, including drop-in replacements and alternate sources.
Source suitable replacement parts, investigate authorized aftermarket manufacturers, and recommend Lifetime Buy (LTB) volumes to secure long-term supply.
Define and document sustainment concepts for radar subsystems, including antenna, transmitter, and signal processor elements.
Support the development of logistics product data (LPD), including detailed parts lists, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical data packages (TDPs).
Contribute to the Life Cycle Sustainment Plan (LCSP) in coordination with Navy stakeholders and internal program teams.
Assess parts availability, obsolescence risks, and long-term sparing requirements to support depot-level sustainment planning.
Develop provisioning documentation to enable organic depot-level sustainment and long-term supportability of radar systems.
Recommend sourcing strategies to mitigate diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages (DMSMS).
Support the development of maintenance concepts, including repair, remanufacture, and prototyping workflows for radar components and subsystems.
Contribute to defining test equipment and support equipment requirements needed to execute maintenance and sustainment activities.
Draft logistics analysis reports, risk assessments, and sustainment recommendations for internal and government review.
Support technical Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and maintain assigned actions in the program action tracker to ensure timely follow-up and closure.
Prepare inputs and briefing materials for Navy sustainment reviews, milestone events, and program-level presentations.
Maintain data integrity within specialized supply chain databases, configuration management platforms, and BOM analysis tools such as Silicon Expert, IHS tools, or internal defense contractor ERP systems.
Align logistics data and systems with program requirements to ensure accurate configuration control and traceability of parts and assemblies.
Interface directly with Program Managers, Procurement teams, Systems Engineers, and government representatives to present clear status updates on material shortages, supply chain blockages, and engineering change proposals (ECPs) related to part changes.
Actively participate in cross-functional discussions to balance technical, cost, and schedule considerations in sustainment and supply chain decisions.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
5+ years of experience in defense logistics, supply chain, sustainment planning, or lifecycle product support.
Hands-on experience with Integrated Product Support (IPS) elements in a defense or complex systems environment.
Proficiency with supply chain databases and BOM analysis tools, including platforms such as Silicon Expert, IHS tools, or internal ERP systems.
Demonstrated experience with DMSMS and obsolescence mitigation, including assessing parts availability and developing…
