Responsible for directing all aspects of fund development.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Collaborates with the CEO and Foundation Board of Directors to plan overall development strategy and operating plans for CICOA. This plan will include annual campaigns, major gifts, planned giving opportunities, special events and grants.
- Identify donor prospects and develop effective approaches to cultivate and solicit gifts.
- Manage donor recognition efforts including annual and life recognition of individual, corporate and institutional donors, with the purpose of acknowledging current gifts and building relationships for future support.
- Provide regular, consistent communication to current and prospective donors.
- Oversee the donor database management systems and monitor effectiveness of donor cultivation and solicitation efforts.
- Prioritize relationships with key individual and institutional donors.
- Provide staff support for Board and Foundation development committees.
- Work with key personnel and volunteer leadership to develop consistent messages to the community around CICOA's mission, its programs and services, and the importance of public support.
- Work with key CICOA personnel to develop grant proposals for area foundations and institutional donors, manage grant reporting process as appropriate.
- Provide training to CICOA volunteers and paid staff on effective fundraising, and enlist volunteers and paid staff in development efforts.

Supervisory ResponsibilitiesDirectly supervises staff in the Development Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree from four-year College or university; 5+ years of successful sales or development experience.
