Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Product Engineer
We are seeking a hands‑on Manufacturing Design Engineer to support a growing production operation that is expanding more engineering and tooling work in-house. This role plays a critical part in designing molds, precast shapes, and production‑related tooling while partnering closely with fabrication, quality, and production teams to improve efficiency, throughput, and product quality.
This position is design‑forward and ideal for someone who enjoys seeing their work move from concept to the shop floor. While the role interfaces with CNC equipment (foam cutters/Routers), CNC programming experience can be trained; strong design fundamentals and manufacturing understanding are the priority.
Key Responsibilities- Design molds, precast shapes, and related components using CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred; similar platforms considered)
- Convert customer drawings and specifications into manufacturable designs and production‑ready models
- Create packaging and support drawings to assist downstream production and shipping
- Collaborate with fabrication and production teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and safe to manufacture
- Support implementation of designs into CNC processes (wire cutters, foam cutters, routers); training available as needed
- Participate in quality reviews and inspections to ensure parts meet specifications
- Assist engineering leadership with estimating labor, materials, and setup considerations related to mold and tooling work
- Support continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, efficiency, and output
- Communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams including engineering, production, quality, and maintenance
- Maintain organized work spaces and follow all safety standards and company policies
- Operate basic shop equipment and material handling equipment as required
- Strong mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with CAD software
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and prints
- Solid understanding of fabrication and manufacturing principles
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a production setting
- Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- Background in steel fabrication, tooling, or custom manufacturing environments
- Exposure to CNC equipment or automated cutting systems
- Welding or hands‑on fabrication experience
- Experience supporting production efficiency or continuous improvement initiatives
- Quality and accuracy of designs released to production
- Contribution to improved efficiency and throughput
- Responsiveness to production and quality needs
- Adherence to safety standards and attendance expectations
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments
Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing and shop‑floor environment
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs as needed
- Use of PPE including steel‑toe footwear and company‑provided uniforms
- Limited or no travel required
- Overtime flexibility may be required during peak production periods
This role offers long‑term growth potential as the business continues to expand. High performers will have opportunities to take on increased responsibility, deeper technical ownership, and broader engineering impact over time.
