This position is primarily responsible for drilling tubes used for upper decks and tube room bar; measuring, plasma cutting and drilling a variety of tubes. A press operator reports to the team leader to ensure daily goals are met.
Essential Functions- Combine specified designs and measurements to produce appropriate component parts, plasma cut and drill tubes.
- Correctly drill material according to production requirements.
- Rotate positions as necessary within or outside the sub‑assembly department.
- Separate scrap metal from regular trash; keep parts off the floor using racks or shelves.
- Read and use a tape measure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in repair work as necessary.
- Maintain and organize the parts area, labeling and bundling extra parts as needed.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices throughout the sub‑assembly area.
- Work around moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment and conveyor roller lines.
- Work in all seasons, often outside weather conditions.
- Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, gases, heat, cold, and wet work while performing duties.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Work as part of a team to meet company demand.
- Meet production goals and deadlines.
- Basic computer skills to post‑production tags onto the system.
- Clear verbal and written English communication skills.
- Read and process written communications such as measurements, frame prints, directions.
- Demonstrate welding competency and knowledge of welding systems.
- Operate equipment including band saws, plasma cutters, tape measures, industrial drills.
- Problem‑solving skills.
- Exercise tact and diplomacy; maintain professional relationships.
- Operate under physically and mentally stressful situations; adapt to changes.
- Operate a lift truck when necessary.
The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, balancing, reaching, handling and climbing. Lifting or moving items over 50 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and focus adjustment. Personal protective equipment such as work gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs, cut‑resistant sleeves, and seasonal gear will be provided. Steel‑toed shoes or boots with metatarsal guards are required additional items.
