Custodian

Position Summary

The Custodian is responsible for routine cleaning of offices, break rooms, restrooms, manufacturing building and grounds. The role requires minimal supervision, adherence to safety procedures, and inventory management of cleaning supplies.

• Develop a routine cleaning schedule with the Maintenance Manager.
• Perform sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and servicing restrooms and disposal of waste.
• Know each department location and department leader to coordinate cleaning.
• Work independently with very little supervision.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, notify re‑order, and dispose of chemicals per manufacturer instructions.
• Follow plant safety procedures, PPE usage, blood borne pathogens, electrical safety, and evacuation routes.
• Perform occasional tasks outside the core function, such as production line work, machine repairs, and monthly safety inspections of fire extinguishers and eye wash stations.
• Operate forklift, scissor lift, and overhead crane as required.

• Knowledge of janitorial service methods, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Ability to operate floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning compounds.
• Understanding of proper chemical use and disposal.
• Good hand and eye coordination.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry 35 pounds safely.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, twist, crouch, reach, and lower for extended periods.
• Excellent verbal communication skills for interpreting problems and receiving work assignments.

• High School Graduate or G.E.D. with at least one year of work experience.
• Professional forklift safety experience.

• Self‑motivated and capable of accomplishing tasks with little or no supervision.
