Executive Director, Community Learning Center (Kendallville, IN)

Are you an experienced leader who is passionate about small communities and quality of life? Would you thrive in an organization that has placed itself at the center of making Kendallville and Noble County, Indiana a great place to live, work, and play? Founded in 2019, the Community Learning Center (CLC) in Kendallville strives to advance the self-sufficiency of all residents through collaborative, multi-generational programs and offerings.

The CLC is a center for learning, and we want every visitor to walk away having learned something new.

The past six years have focused on bringing a well-preserved historic school building into the 21st century and creating a dynamic community hub that brings people and organizations together to learn, socialize, enjoy the arts, advance their careers and our community. Yet, the CLC is not really about the building, it’s about the people and the organizations that we can bring together within the facility and beyond the walls of the CLC.

Our tagline speaks to our focus - Connecting Communities. Strengthening Lives. Securing Futures.

The next Executive Director will take the reins from a successful 6-year leader who is retiring and leaving the organization well positioned for its next stage of development and growth. Most facility renovations are complete, and spaces are filled with community collaborators – yet we believe we are just beginning to tap our potential. The next Executive Director should be able to lead, develop, and supervise a six-member staff team with an operating budget of about $800,000.

The CLC is governed by a nine-member Board of Directors, appointed by our key partners and stakeholders.

This is a high visibility role and the Executive Director is expected to be at the table or convening the discussions around many community issues and opportunities. The CLC board is seeking a community- and people-oriented leader who is familiar with nonprofit organizations and able to quickly establish themselves in the Kendallville community and Noble County. This leader will bring passion for our community and the value of education.

This is a heavy relationship-building and connecting role with half of the leader’s time devoted to building relationships within and across the community.

Why Join Us?

At CLC, you will have the opportunity to lead a respected organization with a rapidly growing reputation for impact. You’ll work alongside a dedicated board and staff team, passionate partners and donors, and a vibrant community, all committed to building a stronger, more resilient Kendallville and Noble County.

The CLC has a long-term commitment to community development and community empowerment. We serve and support all sectors of our community, partnering with nonprofits and community organizations in the performing arts, education, social services, youth, senior citizens, and recreation.
