Donor Relations Director

Relationship-Focused Fundraising | Team-Based Development Role

Indianapolis, IN | Full-Time

About Outreach, Inc.

Outreach is a faith-based nonprofit organization in Indianapolis serving youth experienced homelessness with the compassion of Jesus Christ. We equip and empower young people (ages 14-24) to achieve stability and life transformation through trusted relationships, basic needs, and pathways forward. While faith-based, we are not tied to one denomination and value collaboration, humility, and grace.

Why This Role

This role is ideal for someone currently working in donor relations or annual giving who wants to go deeper in relationship-based fundraising without having to manage communications, social media, or event logistics. You'll be part of a strong development team where roles are clear and support is built in, allowing you to focus on donors and impact.

Position Summary

The Donor Relations Director is a highly relational role responsible for cultivating and stewarding mid-level donors and advancing Outreach's annual fundraising goals. You will manage a donor portfolio, build meaningful relationships, and invite supporters into deeper engagement with Outreach's mission. This role collaborates closely with Communications, Marketing, Direct Mail, and Events teams and reports to the Chief Development Officer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of mid-level donors through personal outreach and strategic follow-up
  • Meet regularly with donors and prospects, including conducting site tours and one-on-one visits
  • Strengthen donor retention and engagement, especially among first-time and mid-level donors
  • Support annual fund strategies in partnership with development leadership
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure consistent donor experience (without owning those functions)
  • Track donor interactions, giving trends, and reports using the CRM system
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and key organizational events
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required (equivalent experience considered)
  • 2+ years of nonprofit fundraising or donor relations experience
  • Experience using a donor database or CRM
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Relational, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Understanding of Christian nonprofit culture and comfort discussing faith-based work with donors
Position Details
  • Full-time, exempt salaried position (40 hours/week; some evenings/weekends)
  • Office-based with occasional local travel
  • Reports to the Chief Development Officer
Salary & Benefits

$55,000-$65,000 annually, plus health, vision, and dental insurance; paid life insurance; 3 weeks paid vacation; 12 paid holidays; and paid sick time.
