Clinical Operations Manager – Behavioral Unit

Indiana University Health – Riley Hospital, Indianapolis, IN

The Clinical Operations Manager for the Behavioral Unit leads an interprofessional team in a 24/7/365 environment. This onsite role requires Monday‑Friday coverage (8 AM–5 PM) with flexibility for occasional evening, weekend, and on‑call duties to support continuous patient care.

Responsibilities

• Translate and achieve strategic priorities, including quality and safety improvements, care affordability, and excellent patient and team experiences.

• Provide operational leadership, planning, and management for the unit, ensuring compliant staffing and resource utilization.

• Advocate for evidence‑based nursing practice and foster an environment where the team can excel in patient and organizational outcomes.

• Oversee unit operations during nights, weekends, and holidays while maintaining high standards of care.

Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor of Nursing (BSN). If not a nursing bachelor’s degree, a Master of Nursing (MSN) is required.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
  • Specialty certification related to nursing practice or leadership preferred.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or valid NLC‑RN license.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the AHA is required; additional advanced life support certifications may be needed per unit policy.
  • Previous experience in leadership and/or mental health or inpatient clinical operations is strongly preferred.
