the Role
As the Assistant Manager of Clinical Operations, you will play a vital role in supporting our brand new Neonatal Progressive Care Unit in addition to providing support to the Simon Family Tower NICU as needed. The core schedule for this role is day shift, however, there is an expectation to work 40% of the schedule on off-shifts. The Neonatal Progressive Care Unit is set to open on January 6, 2026 and will be a 12 bed unit located on the 8th floor of Simon Family Tower.
The majority of the patients that we care for will be transferred from either Simon Family Tower or Riley Maternity Tower NICUs when they no longer require intensive care. These patients may require respiratory support up to CPAP, feeding tubes, or continuous monitoring for variations in vital signs. Simon Family Tower NICU receives the majority of their patients from outside hospitals throughout the state.
As a level IV NICU, SFT offers surgery services, body cooling, and ECMO. They are a 60 bed unit caring for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses including anomalies requiring surgical intervention such as omphalocele and gastroschisis, neurological disorders, genetic syndromes, and cardiac defects.

Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the unit Manager to develop and implement action plans focused on quality and safety improvements, care affordability, and enhancing patient and team member experiences.
- Lead the execution of these action plans and systematically evaluate their effectiveness.
- Contribute as a member of the interprofessional team, fostering an environment where the team is motivated to achieve exceptional patient outcomes and organizational excellence.
- Advocate for and promote evidence‑based practices and professional nursing standards to advance nursing practice.
- Onboard and train new team members.
- Participate as a member of the leadership team for a 24/7 operational unit, which includes responsibilities on weekends and holidays.
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree required.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Required Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- NICU experience preferred.
- 3+ years of RN experience preferred.
