Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring strong cardiac and post-op heart experience, ACLS/BLS certification, and recent trauma background.
Responsibilities- Work in a Progressive Care Unit within a Level I or II trauma hospital
- Care for post-cardiac and post-vascular surgery patients
- Patient ratios typically 1:3-5, adjusted based on acuity
- Required to float to Med-Surg, PCU, or ICU units as needed within the hospital or affiliate hospitals
- Day shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 to 19:30
- Every other weekend shift required and possible consecutive weekends depending on operational need
- Uses Cerner EMR system;
Cerner charting experience required - May be assigned charge nurse duties with training provided based on unit needs
- Refusal to float may result in termination of contract
- Team environment with unit support and resources for floating
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) may be approved automatically
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted for PCU positions
- Active IN or Compact RN license in hand by start date
- ACLS and BLS certifications required (AHA and RQI accepted)
- Must have graduated from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of recent PCU or trauma experience required
- Strong experience with telemetry, IV start, cardiac drips (titration), and caring for post-cardiac/post-op heart patients
- Level I or II trauma experience required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- COVID vaccination required with medical or religious exemption allowed with documentation
- Former permanent or PRN employees must be separated for at least 12 months before applying
