Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring an active IN or Compact RN license and NIHSS certification.
Responsibilities- Work in a Neuro ICU within a critical care environment
- Patient population includes neuro, medical, surgical, and trauma ICU cases
- Staffing ratios are typically 1:2-3
- Night shifts available (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
- Travelers must be flexible to work 50% of weekends during the contract
- Unit uses Cerner for charting, Cerner experience required
- Floating to different levels of care such as Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU may be required, with provided resources
- Precepting or being assigned students to shadow may be required
- Travelers may be asked to cover charge nurse responsibilities pending operational needs with training and support provided
- Must be willing to float to affiliate hospitals within the system
- Call-ins must be made up within the pay period or added to contract end depending on FTE status
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Local candidates are not accepted for ICU positions
- Former perm or PRN employees must be separated for at least 12 months before consideration as a traveler
- RTO of 5 days or less will be auto-approved
- Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand or proof of fingerprint application submitted
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years recent Neuro ICU experience required
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (American Heart Association or RQI accepted, must be current)
- Level 1 trauma experience required
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, ICP monitoring, and IV starts
- Graduation from a nursing school accredited by ACEN or CCNE
- Experienced with Cerner EMR
