Position Overview:The purpose of a Surgery Technician Assistant Level 1 is to assist Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants and DVMs in a variety of ways including restrain, diagnostics and client communication. Assisting in these areas will allow for maximum efficient for the team. Technician Assistants Level 1 are expected to complete a daily checklist as well as complete other duties as needed per the request of the Veterinary Technician/Assistant.
After holding this position for a minimum of 90 days, Level 1 TAs who are interested and qualified are able to advance to Technician Assistant Level 2 position.
- Restraining for IVC placement/venipuncture and exams
- Running bloodwork
- Assisting in radiographs
- Setting up for procedures and surgeries
- Cleaning up following procedures
- Completing body care for deceased pets
- Labeling lab tubes
- Cleaning patient cages
- Stocking
- Laundry
- Cleaning
Monday‑Friday 9:00am‑5:00pm
Assist with ER during downtime
Requirements:- Previous experience at a small animal hospital preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self‑motivation
- Attention to detail
- Able to lift up to 50+ lbs without assistance
- Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time
- Able to constantly lift, bend and handle heavy objects on occasion
- Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g. face masks, goggles, latex/non‑latex gloves) as needed. Willingness to work overnights, some weekends, and some holidays
- Ability to work successfully independently, as well as on a team
- Flexible with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner
- Ability to understand medical terminology
- Prioritization and time management skills
- Working quickly without compromising quality
- High school degree

Compensation
: $16.00 to $19.00 base pay depending on experience level and credential
