Description

As a Principal Infrastructure Administrator 2 on the Skyworks IT team, you will play a key role in supporting and executing the company’s corporate IT strategy. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure the reliability and performance of critical systems that empower business units to operate efficiently and achieve their strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

The technical responsibilities of this role fall into several key areas:

  • Ticket Management: Responding to and resolving support tickets submitted through our internal ticketing system.
  • Infrastructure Support: Maintaining and supporting our Skyworks on-premises virtual environment, including storage and backup solutions.
  • Vendor

    Collaboration:

    Engaging with external vendors to troubleshoot and implement solutions for break‑fix scenarios.

In this role, you will work closely with your immediate team as well as cross‑functional teams within Skyworks to facilitate efficient issue resolution. Strong communication skills are essential to ensure that issues are addressed promptly and effectively.

Required Experience and Skills

Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Ticket Management: Actively manage and resolve incidents, service requests, and change requests through the corporate ticketing system, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Virtualization Infrastructure: Support and maintain virtualization hardware (Dell servers) and software platforms (VMware) across all Skyworks sites.
  • Storage Solutions: Administer and support Skyworks NAS environments, including office‑based servers and enterprise storage solutions such as Dell Isilon. In the future, there may be a need to support block storage.
  • Backup Systems: Manage and maintain backup software (Veeam) and storage appliances (Dell Data Domain) to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Active Directory: Perform basic administration and support of Microsoft Active Directory services.
  • Office 365: Experience with the Office 365 platform.
  • Monitoring & Alert Response: Monitor system alerts and proactively respond to issues, driving them to resolution to maintain system uptime and performance.
  • Patch Management & System Updates: Apply firmware, OS, and application updates across infrastructure systems to maintain security and performance.
  • Security & Compliance: Support infrastructure security by implementing best practices, monitoring for vulnerabilities, and assisting with audits or compliance initiatives.
  • Scripting & Automation: Develop or maintain scripts to automate routine administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency.

    Collaboration:

    Work with network teams to troubleshoot connectivity issues related to virtual environments, storage, or backup systems.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation for infrastructure configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Desired Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience administering Windows systems in enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining Windows Active Directory.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
