The Role

We are searching for a highly skilled and compassionate Therapy Medical Physicist to join our dedicated team of experts in Northwest Indiana (Merrillville). This position will support a thriving Radiation Oncology clinic equipped with a Varian True Beam and a Gamma Knife (Elekta Esprit) system. The ideal candidate will bring clinical expertise, strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care in partnership with physicians, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists.

This is a full‑time role (1.0 FTE) with additional daily support for Gamma Knife. The individual will either gain training paid by the company for experience in gamma knife and/or receive support from additional physicists on One Physics staff today.

Clinic Information
  • Location:

    Merrillville, Indiana (Northwest Indiana region)
  • Treatment Systems:
    Varian True Beam and Elekta Esprit Gamma Knife
  • Treatment Planning Systems:
    Mosaiq, Monaco, Aria, and Eclipse
  • Average Daily Census: 15–20 patients
  • Gamma Knife Volume:
    Approximately 40–50 procedures per year
  • Team Structure:
    Collaborative environment with physicians, physicists, and both onsite and remote dosimetry support
  • Hybrid dosimetry model currently in place
What You’ll Do
  • Perform weekly, monthly, and annual quality assurance testing and calibrations for all treatment units (including Gamma Knife).
  • Provide physics support and oversight for Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery on a daily basis.
  • Ensure the safety, accuracy, and compliance of all radiation therapy equipment and procedures.
  • Supervise and collaborate with dosimetry and radiation therapy teams on treatment planning and delivery.
  • Maintain and prepare documentation required for state and federal regulatory compliance.
  • Implement and monitor patient‑specific QA, dose verification, and special procedure support.
  • Participate in ongoing process improvement initiatives and clinical program development.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to ensure the highest standard of clinical operations.
What You’ll Need
  • Master’s Degree and/or PhD in Medical Physics or related field.
  • Board certification by the American Board of Radiology (A ) in Therapeutic Medical Physics, or board eligibility as demonstrated by graduation from a CAMPEP‑accredited residency program.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical Therapy Medical Physics experience preferred.
  • Prior Gamma Knife experience strongly preferred (Elekta Esprit experience is a plus).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement regulatory requirements.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to go “above and beyond” for clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, organizational, and project ownership skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use, move, and calibrate radiation therapy equipment.
  • Regular activities include sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying.
  • Exposure to radiation and other environmental conditions common to radiation oncology settings.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
