Laboratory Technician – Analytics (LC-MS/MS)
About us:
CellX Biosolutions AG is an innovative ETH spin‑off at the forefront of environmental biotechnology. We develop microbial solutions capable of degrading persistent pollutants such as PFAS, pesticides, and pharmaceuticals. We are on a mission to create sustainable technologies for cleaner water and soils.
The Position:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician for Analytics (LC-MS/MS) to join our growing team and support our expanding analytical workflows. In this role, you will take responsibility for routine and developmental LC-MS/MS analyses, ensuring the quality, reliability, and reproducibility of our R&D programmes, which focus on PFAS degradation by bacterial communities. At the same time, you will play a key role in establishing our new in‑house LC‑MS/MS platform, from instrument setup and method transfer to validation and long‑term operation and accreditation.
Your responsibilities:
- Perform routine and non‑routine LC‑MS/MS analyses of samples from our R&D programmes.
- Develop, optimise, and validate analytical methods for the quantification of pollutants and metabolites (particularly PFAS).
- Ensure data quality and documentation according to GLP/GMP‑like standards, including method files, calibration logs, and maintenance records.
- Participate in instrument installation, qualification, and maintenance together with our supplier and partner laboratories.
- Lead the accreditation of CellX’s analytical pipeline (ISO or similar).
- Work closely with the R&D team to provide analytical support and ensure smooth project execution.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of workflows and SOPs.
Your profile:
Required qualifications:
- Completed apprenticeship (EFZ) as Chemical Laboratory Technician or equivalent education (BSc/MSc in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field).
- Proven hands‑on experience with LC‑MS/MS instrumentation and software (setup, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting).
- Strong foundation in method development, validation and data evaluation.
- Experience with QA/QC documentation and laboratory safety under regulated or semi‑regulated environments.
- High degree of precision, reliability, and organisational skills.
- Independent, proactive, and structured work style with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Excellent command of English (C1 or higher);
German is an advantage.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with environmental analytics, particularly PFAS. Other pollutants like pesticides or pharmaceuticals would also be of interest.
- Familiarity with method validation and accreditation processes (ISO or similar).
- Previous exposure to environmental microbiology or bioremediation is a plus.
A note: research indicates that women and individuals from marginalized groups tend to apply only when they meet all of the criteria. If you believe you’re qualified, but don’t necessarily check every box, please submit an application.
We offer:
- Cutting‑edge research environment at the intersection of microbiology & environmental biotechnology.
- Opportunities for training and career development in analytics.
- Collaborative startup culture.
- Exposure to industry applications through environmental technology stakeholders.
