Quality Coordinator

Quality Coordinator – North Vernon, IN

AAM is searching for a Quality Coordinator to join our team. This position will be based out of our North Vernon, IN location.

• Ensure all quality requirements, policies, and procedures are followed in daily plant operations.
• Maintain and continuously improve the document control system, ensuring accuracy, version control, and accessibility.
• Prepare for, lead, and participate in internal, customer, and third‑party audits.
• Ensure continued compliance with IATF 16949 and Q4 certification requirements.
• Review daily discrepant material and support disposition decisions.
• Support timely resolution of customer complaints by working closely with the Quality team to drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Review, analyze, and communicate customer scorecards and quality performance metrics to site leadership.
• Ensure customer parts consistently meet tolerance and specification requirements.
• Maintain product and process measurement systems aligned with control plans, specifications, quality standards, and documented work instructions.
• Utilize precision gauges, statistical tools, computer systems, and laboratory/testing equipment to perform quality assurance functions, including calibration and testing.
• Maintain the plant gauge and layout system to ensure an effective and compliant MSA program.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, reporting, and monitoring of quality performance related to scrap, rework, rejects, and supplier quality.
• Support capability studies, SPC implementation, and equipment or process evaluations as required.
• Actively lead and participate in problem‑solving teams using structured methodologies such as 5‑Why, 8D, and other root‑cause analysis tools.
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership and oversight for a team of quality inspectors, including coaching and performance support.
• Collaborate with the Quality team to develop and deliver training on quality tools, techniques, and standards.
• Maintain regular, direct interaction with plant personnel regarding quality concerns and improvement opportunities.
• Interface cross‑functionally with engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, and supply chain on quality‑related issues.
• Support Quality Team in gathering and validating data for PPAP submissions, including control plans, PFMEAs, process flows, and supporting documentation.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience.
• 7‑10 years’ experience in a quality manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years experience training and managing teams.
• Strong experience with quality processes (8D, 5
  
  Why, Fishbone, etc).
• Strong experience managing documentation (FMEA, APQP, PPAP, GD&T, 5S).
• Experienced in IATF
  16949 audits.
• Strong knowledge of supplier quality.
