Postdoctoral Fellow in Medicine (Pulmonary)

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep, and Occupational Medicine in the Department of Medicine. This position will be involved in a combined applied and methodological genetics project focusing on the development and implementation of ancestry (admixture) based detection and characterization of genetic and environmental exposure risk factors in asthma.

Key Functions
  • Perform genome-wide admixture and association analysis, implement ancestry–environmental exposure interaction analysis, data simulation and imputation.
  • Participate in development and testing of statistical methods for admixed human datasets.
  • Integrate omics (genome, transcriptome, microbiome, epigenome) data and perform functional (ENCODE, Roadmap Epigenomics, GTEx) data mining.
Basic Qualifications

Recent PhD graduate in biostatistics, statistical genetics, bioinformatics or computational biology. Experience and/or training in statistical methods used in genetic and environmental exposure studies, with research interests in population genetics analysis of admixed populations, data simulation, imputation and mining. Self‑motivated, excellent communication skills and strong aptitude for IT applied to human genomics.

Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Proficiency in statistical programming environments such as R, Java, Python, C++.
  • Ability to communicate statistical concepts and data analysis interpretations to the group.
  • Experience in genetic analysis of environmental exposure risk factors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in team‑oriented environments.
