Team Lead - Sergeant at Indiana University Health
Full Time Rotating Shifts.
Work Location:
Methodist Hospital. Provide safe healthcare environment and oversee shift operations.
- Conduct rounding and patrols in and around IU Health properties.
- Respond to service calls, enforce IUHealth rules and state statutes.
- Provide direction, guidance, and de‑escalate tense situations.
- Prevent crime, investigate criminal activity and vehicle crashes, maintain records, and complete reports.
- Perform physical security screening and create safe environment for team members, patients and guests.
- Oversee shift operations, supervise police and Public Safety Officers, issue work assignments and schedule shift coverage.
- Respond to officers’ calls, assume on‑scene command of critical incidents, control and assess situations.
- Act as senior departmental officer in absence of more senior ranking officer.
- Perform other duties as assigned by chain of command.
- High school diploma or GED plus five (5) years of law enforcement experience OR Associate’s degree and three (3) years of law enforcement experience.
- Current non‑restricted Indiana Driver's License.
- Previous successful completion of Indiana Law Enforcement Tier I or II training and IU Health DPS field training program.
- Must obtain NCIC/IDACS certification and access.
- Must not have convictions for felony, domestic violence or violent misdemeanor offenses.
- Must pass a pre-employment background investigation, drug screening and psychological exam.
- Working knowledge of computers and various software programs.
- Never had law enforcement officer license denied, revoked or suspended; not currently on suspension or voluntary surrender.
