Position: HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN with Security Clearance
Location: Crane

Duties
* You will Install, modify, and replace generation and distribution equipment in substations, power-generating facilities, transformer vaults, and/or distribution centers.
* You will maintain, replace, test and reset circuit breakers in switch and substations at shore installations including pier mounted unit substations and vaults.
* You will troubleshoot cable systems to locate shorts, opens, grounds, crosses, electrolysis damage, capacitance imbalance, or cable breaks, using such common electrical test devices as voltmeter, ohmmeter, and megger.
* You will work on overhead platforms to string overhead wires and set proper wire tension in accordance with strength and weight of wires. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
* Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license and have the ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final CONFIDENTIAL security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal
* You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

The Screen-out Element for this position is:
1) Installing overhead and underground distribution systems and electrical sub stations;
2) Using proper safety procedures of high voltage work including the equipment to be used on live circuits;
3) Installing transformers, capacitors, insulators, switches, circuit breakers and fuses in connection with main distribution lines; and
4) Understanding how generator motors, synchronous generators and motors, transformers, switchgears and other equipment associated with utility systems function.
