Welder​/Mechanic

Job Summary /

Essential Functions:

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform welding on all equipment at the jobsite.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repair of catastrophic failures.
• Fuel and grease equipment as required.
• Keep records of work performed.

Special Skills or Qualifications

Required:

• At least one year of experience in welding and repair of heavy diesel equipment, including hard surfacing and repair of ground engaging tools.
• Ability to weld in all positions (horizontal, vertical, overhead).
• Proficient in using a torch, air arc, stick weld, and wire weld.
• Working knowledge of MIG and TIG units and the types of metals used in mining equipment.
• At least one year of experience in align boring and re-facing.
• Basic math skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• High school diploma or GED.

• High safety standards; use of personal protective equipment.
• Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets, operate power tools and hand tools.

Physical Requirements for Surface Operations:

• Perform constant functions such as walking, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, working overhead, bending, and twisting.
• Stand and squat for prolonged periods.
• Operate equipment or vehicles seated for up to 4 hours.
• Work from elevated positions, climb stairs, and ascend/descend 14' ladders.
• Lift/raise 10-50 lbs frequently.
• Carry boxes 50 ft with a 50 lbs load.
• Lift boxes from floor to shoulder (50 lbs).
• Lift boxes 17-36 inches high with a 50 lbs load.
• Work overhead with 5 lbs in each hand.
• Work safely on beams 6 inches wide.
• Perform repetitive hand/wrist motions and have rapid reflexes with good hand-eye coordination.
• Work in extreme conditions: weather, dust, mud, noise, light/dark environments, hot work areas, confined spaces.
• Handle equipment with moderate to high vibration levels.
• Wear protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other PPE as required.
