Aircraft Maintenance Technician – Republic Airways

Position Purpose

Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, modifications, and other maintenance of aircraft, components, and related equipment in accordance with standards, regulations, and company procedures.

Essential Duties
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and modifications on aircraft and components, complying with 14 CFR, GMM, company policies, and FAA/OSHA requirements.
  • Carry out maintenance mechanic duties inside and outside the hangar and at the airport terminal.
  • Troubleshoot all aircraft systems and execute maintenance work orders.
  • Use tools, equipment, and test apparatus to complete work in accordance with industry practices; verify calibrated tools and use serviceable materials and parts.
  • Verify each part or component is effective for the aircraft on which it will be installed.
  • Adhere to material handling and control procedures; initiate material requests as needed.
  • Evaluate the work area and equipment for safety before performing maintenance; always apply a safety-first approach.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment throughout the shift.
  • Update supervisors on work progress; review and sign paperwork at shift end; assist with shift turnover reports per GMM.
  • Complete all internal company forms, maintenance records, and work orders; conduct required maintenance computer system transactions (MEL, DMI).
  • Provide coaching and on-the-job training as directed.
  • Follow established work schedules; participate in shift meetings and briefings.
  • Submit written suggestions that enhance safety and cost-effective maintenance when appropriate.
  • Access company intranet to familiarize with GMM and aircraft manuals; ensure part effectiveness per aircraft.
  • Maintain FAA AMT training, licenses, and certifications; keep licensure current.
  • Read and acknowledge maintenance newsletters and company emails in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent with a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
Preferred

Education and Experience

Previous experience as an A&P mechanic or airline mechanic; experience using a computer to retrieve information and input data.

  • Stable employment history.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Possess required tools.
  • Ability to work both individually and in a team setting.
Regulatory Requirements
  • Pass an FAA 10‑year work history review, criminal background check, and fingerprint verification.
  • Agree to FAA and company mandatory random drug and alcohol testing.

Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively and be understood by associates.

Reasoning / Problem Solving Ability

Apply common sense to carry out instructions; handle problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.

Decision Making

Make limited decisions, determining best methods to solve problems based on established policies and precedents; impact of decisions is moderately low.

Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, and use hands at least 90% of the time.
  • Climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl up to 60% of the time.
  • Lift up to 50 lb at least 35% of the time; lift or move 75 lb over 70% of the time.
  • Visual proficiency required to perform work and navigate hazards.
Work Environment
  • Work near moving mechanical parts and with fumes or airborne particles 90% of the time.
  • Work in high or precarious places up to 50% of the time.
  • Handle toxic or caustic chemicals 30% of the time.
  • Possibility of electric shock or explosives up to 10% of the time.
  • Outdoors and inside an open‑air hangar or airport terminal 100% of the time.
  • Work environment may be very loud.
