Role Overview

The Maintenance Technician provides preventative maintenance and repairs to equipment, machinery, buildings, and grounds at the Indiana State Museum.

Work schedule:

  • Sunday – Wednesday, 7:00 am – 5:30 pm.
  • Occasional evenings and additional weekend hours as scheduled.
  • This role is for overtime pay.
Salary

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $46,350 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform routine carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
  • Install furniture components, tiles, screens, window glass, doors, wiring and conduits, plumbing fixtures, and other items.
  • Repair locks, make keys, and provide secure facilities throughout the Museum.
  • Assist other maintenance technicians and building custodians on major projects.
  • Assist with setting up and tearing down for special events.

What You'll Need for Success
  • Working knowledge of, and ability to use, skills in carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions and to handle simple mathematical problems.
  • Ability to determine malfunctions of electrical and mechanical equipment and make repairs.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and various drawings.
  • Ability to set tile and to finish concrete and drywall.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • No degree is required to fill this position.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
