About the roleWe're hiring an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to act as a Player‑Coach, leading a team of software engineers to deliver high‑quality, scalable solutions. Your primary focus will be people leadership, building trust, fostering a culture of psychological safety, and driving performance and career development through continuous mentoring and clear communication. You'll manage team resources, capacity, and hiring needs.
You will champion engineering best practices and quality by establishing coding standards, testing methodologies, and rigorous code reviews. Collaborating closely with Product, you'll determine technical feasibility and provide estimates, ensuring technical designs align with business outcomes (the "Feasible" triad component). In your technical capacity, you'll develop prototypes and ensure architectural alignment with the Architecture group. Exceptional communication is vital; you'll translate complex technical concepts for business stakeholders and monitor team progress against metrics.
Expertise in technologies like React JS, Java Spring Framework, and GCP is a plus.
- People: Coach and support a team of engineers to deliver high‑quality software on time. Build trust and psychological safety with your team while mentoring and communicating regularly. Ensure performance and career development is clearly measured and constantly communicated and reviewed in accordance with company policy. Manage team resources, including workload distribution, capacity planning, and hiring as needed.
- Processes and Quality: Continuously improve, author, and administer engineering best practices and processes while ensuring these are followed within the team. Drive best practices in software development, including coding standards, testing, and deployment processes. Develop and enforce code review standards, ensuring high‑quality and maintainable codebases.
- Work Breakdown: Work with the product organization to develop technical feasibility designs and estimates for the team. Represent the Feasible part of the (Valuable, Feasible, Usable) triad to ensure technical designs align to business outcomes.
- Player Coach: Develop prototypes or designs to enable future roadmaps or unlock stuck individuals or teams. Enable the authoring of technical design documents and work tightly with the architecture group to ensure overarching technical strategy and tactical execution alignment across the organization.
- Communications: Demonstrate excellence by example and proactively coordinate communication with the company's departments and within your team. Clearly translate complex technical concepts into understandable items for each department as well as translating business and customer goals into technical elements for your team. Monitor and report on team progress and technical performance metrics to leadership.
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or in a similar leadership role.
- Strong hands‑on experience with React JS and Java Spring Framework.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform and its services is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, with a focus on professional growth and team success.
- A leadership style of a player coach where you can be an architect, a code pairing partner, and people manager.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and functions.
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering and equivalent experience.
