Position Title:

Sport Interpreter
Term:
Sport Season (Winter, Fall, Spring, Summer)
Salary: $500 - $4000 depending on sport
Responsible To:
Athletic Director and Coaches

• Certification by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf preferred.
• Must be certified to interpret in an educational setting.
• Plans to successfully pass the EIPA written test and successfully complete the EIPA performance test with a score of 3.5 or above.
• Valid Driver’s License & Evidence of Insurability.

• Provide student athletes with the same opportunities and experiences as their hearing peers.
• Use of qualified, fluent sign language with adaptability to sports.
• Travel with team(s).
• Attend Practices and Games (home and away).

• Interpreting (Oral, Cued, Sign and Transcription) services in alignment with sport:
  Football, Basketball, Wrestling, or Track.
• Travel with team(s).
• Attend Practices and Games (home and away).
• Adapt service delivery to the cognitive and maturational level of students.
• Adhere to IEP directives, objectives, and goals as set by the educational team.

• Engage in professional development that enhances both skills and theoretical knowledge.
• Participate in ongoing training to develop and enhance ethical decision-making.
