- Assist in meeting State and District coaching requirements, including safety compliance with IHSAA.
- Support the design and implementation of practices and events, including skill assessment, role assignments, and team development.
- Help communicate schedules with the school, squad, and caregivers.
- Assist in scheduling facilities for practices and competitions in coordination with the Athletic Director.
- Support the enforcement of athlete behavior standards and provide supervision.
- Help monitor the academic performance of squad members to ensure eligibility.
- Model positive behavior and professional conduct, supporting cheerleaders in upholding these standards.
- Assist with the ordering and management of uniforms and equipment within budget.
- Observe practices and events to help identify areas for improvement.
- Support enforcement of squad expectations, including attendance and conduct.
- Assist in organizing tryouts, auditions, and meetings for prospective squad members.
- Help organize and participate in cheerleading camps and summer enrichment activities.
- Encourage squad participation in pep rallies to build school spirit.
- Assist with fundraising efforts, ensuring proper use of funds for travel, camps, and supplies.
- Help maintain the upkeep, inventory, and safety of equipment and facilities.
- Maintain communication with the Athletic Director on program developments.
- Support safety oversight and report any hazards to the Athletic Director.
- Assist in building positive relationships with local athletic organizations, schools, media, and the community to ensure long-term program success.
- Help ensure adherence to District, league, and IHSAA policies and regulations.
- Support time management for practice and competition schedules, including holidays and off-seasons.
- Assist in ensuring the squad's financial standing and communicating obligations with athletes and parents.

High School Cheerleading seasons are defined by ISHAA. - STANDARD HOURS PER DAY:
Varies and are outside of contracted hours/school day. - WORK YEAR:
High School Cheerleading seasons are defined by ISHAA. - SALARY SCHEDULE & BENEFITS:
The High School Cheerleader Asst. Sponsor is paid on the “Teachers Athletic Extracurricular” salary schedule, paid via stipend during the season. The Teacher assigned to fulfill the duties of Sponsor is eligible for benefits on the “Teachers” benefits schedule due to his/her employment as a teacher, not due to being responsible for these extracurricular duties. The High School Cheerleader Asst.
Sponsor that is not a Teacher or Non-Certified employee, but is a Lay Coach, defined as non-certified employee used only in the Athletic Program, is paid during season via stipend and not eligible for benefits. - REPORTS TO:
The Athletic Director and the AD’s Designee. - SUPERVISES:
The High School Cheerleader Asst. Sponsor does not supervise other staff members. - GENERAL
SUMMARY:
The High School Cheerleader Asst. Sponsor promotes an appreciation for teamwork, sportsmanship and excellence. The High School Cheerleader Asst. Sponsor sets an exemplary example and provides leadership and supervision for the team and individuals. The assistant to the Cheerleading Sponsor will help with choreography and teaching routines to the squad, ensuring all activities are safe. They will support the Sponsor in organizing practice schedules, supervising the team during games, and coordinating other school spirit events.
The assistant will also help with managing logistics and communication to ensure the team's success.
