Summary Of Opportunity

The Volleyball Assistant Coach assists with all coaching activities, developing and sustaining a successful program with emphasis on skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and character development with discipline.

It is imperative that the successful candidate demonstrates a proven aptitude for coaching, with a strong work ethic, organizational skills, and the ability to help produce results. The Assistant coach will report to the Head Coach, Athletic Coordinator, and performance will be evaluated by the Athletic Coordinator and Principal.

What You ll Do
  • Assist with planning, organizing, promoting, and conducting tryouts for the sport.
  • May be required to work with the Head Coach and Athletic Coordinator to schedule contests.
  • Help coach during each game.
  • Help develop appropriate training programs and practice schedules.
  • Study the skills and abilities of each student-athlete on the team and place them in positions to support team success.
  • Create a safe learning environment appropriate for the development of student-athletes.
  • Travel with student-athletes and team personnel on the team bus to and from games.
  • Maintain necessary records and complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Help enforce discipline policies and emphasize sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles.
  • Supervise student-athletes in locker rooms at home and away games and ensure appropriate behavior.
  • Ensure rules and regulations of conduct and eligibility are communicated and followed throughout the year.
  • Professionally represent the school and the district in interactions with students, parents, staff, officials, and others.

Skills and Abilities
  • Sufficient knowledge of the sport of Volleyball.
  • Ability to motivate, teach and recruit qualified student-athletes.
  • The ability to handle stressful situations and keep tempers in check.
  • Exhibits high standards of professional ethics and conduct.

Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The ability to demonstrate proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation is required.
