Job Title: Bus Aide

Reports To: Transportation Director and Bus Driver

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The Bus Aide assists the school bus driver in providing safe and orderly transportation for students. The aide helps maintain a safe environment on the bus, assists students with special needs, and ensures that all students enter and exit the bus safely.

• Assist the bus driver with maintaining order and safety on the bus.
• Help students safely enter and exit the bus, including those with disabilities or mobility challenges.
• Secure students in safety restraints, car seats, or harnesses as required.
• Monitor student behavior and report disciplinary concerns to the driver and/or supervisor.
• Provide assistance in case of an emergency, including evacuations.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, parents, and school staff.
• Assist with loading/unloading equipment, backpacks, and medical devices as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and district transportation policies.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work effectively with children, including those with special needs.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and assist students as needed.
• Training in first aid/CPR preferred (may be required by district).

• Primarily works on a school bus in varying weather conditions.
• May require bending, lifting, and assisting students physically.

$15.50 Starting, $16.00 after completion of 30 working probation period.
