Inventory Accountant – Local Specialty Chemicals Company
A locally based specialty chemicals company is seeking an Inventory Accountant to support its growing accounting team. This role is perfect for someone with a strong understanding of debits and credits, reconciliations, inventory accounting, and fixed assets, who is eager to develop processes and drive automation. While the role will start with data entry, it offers a clear path for growth into a Senior Accountant or other advanced positions as processes are built and optimized.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and improve inventory tracking and reporting to provide accurate, timely insights.
- Perform reconciliations and ensure proper accounting procedures for intercompany transactions.
- Manage and maintain the fixed asset database, create capital project accounts, and reconcile fixed assets quarterly.
- Run financial statements and support automation efforts, allowing for the eventual delegation of data entry tasks.
- Maintain the company’s purchase card program and assist with journal entries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including plant operations, procurement, and commercial groups.
- Assist with external audits and other accounting projects as needed.
What You Need:
- 1+ years of relevant accounting experience (inventory accounting preferred).
- Strong foundation in debits, credits, reconciliations, and fixed assets accounting.
- Experience with Great Plains is a plus.
- Ability to analyze and improve processes to increase efficiency.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Previous public accounting experience is okay, but this is not an entry-level role—we are looking for someone with hands-on experience.
Why Join?
- Hybrid flexibility with a corporate office setting.
- Hands-on experience in a dynamic, growing organization.
- Opportunity to build processes, automate tasks, and grow your career.
