About the Opportunity
A growing, family-owned company is looking for an Accounting Specialist to support its day-to-day accounting operations. This is a great opportunity to join a close-knit team where flexibility, collaboration, and having a voice in the business are genuinely valued. The role is hands-on and varied, with room to take on additional responsibility and potentially grow into a management position over time.
What You'll Do
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including researching and resolving customer and vendor discrepancies.
- Handle invoice corrections, credit memos, billing adjustments, and occasional customer calls.
- Assist with general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations.
- Provide support to the Controller with various accounting needs and projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and solve problems as they come up.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of accounting experience; open to a range of experience levels for someone with a strong accounting foundation.
- Hands-on Sage 100 experience is required.
- Inventory or manufacturing accounting experience is a major plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt when priorities change.
- Someone comfortable communicating with customers and vendors by phone when needed.
- A proactive, team-oriented approach and willingness to jump in wherever needed.
Why You'll Like It
- Flexible, family-friendly environment:
The team understands that life outside of work matters and is accommodating of personal commitments.
- Strong retirement benefits:
The company contributes 3% to your 401(k), regardless of your own contributions, and offers a company-funded Cash Balance Plan similar to a traditional pension.
- Complimentary financial planning:
Access to financial planning through the company that manages its retirement plans.
- Close-knit culture: A growing business that still has the feel of a small, family-owned company where everyone's input matters.
- Positive atmosphere:
Casual, collaborative, and fun team environment that values keeping things light and not letting stress take over.
- Room to grow:
Potential to move into a management role and eventually oversee a direct report.
