Position Overview

We are seeking a Service Investigation Engineer to lead failure analyses and reliability improvement activities for in-service defense engine hardware. The ideal candidate will diagnose root causes, define corrective actions, and support updates to service documentation to enhance product safety, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform failure analysis (FA) and root cause analysis (RCA) on returned or field-experienced components.
  • Conduct fatigue and fracture mechanics evaluations to determine failure mechanisms.
  • Develop corrective action plans and provide engineering justification for service bulletins and technical directives.
  • Coordinate with design, materials, and quality teams to implement long-term reliability solutions.
  • Present investigation findings to internal stakeholders and DoD customers.
  • Maintain documentation of findings and recommendations in compliance with program standards.
Required Skills & Tools
  • Experience in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies.
  • Proficiency in fatigue and fracture analysis techniques.
  • Strong data visualization and reporting skills using Power BI or similar tools.
  • Understanding of aerospace materials, maintenance practices
    , and component life management.
Education
  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Materials Engineering (or related discipline).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with aerospace propulsion or defense hardware investigations
    .
  • Familiarity with DoD service reporting and quality systems
    .
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
