POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and airworthiness of aircraft through the design, analysis, and maintenance of aircraft structures. This role involves coordinating with OEM’s to develop and implement engineering solutions to support aircraft modifications, repairs, and maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and enhancing operational efficiency. The position collaborates with cross‑functional teams to maintain high safety standards and optimize airline performance.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES

  • Collaborate with OEM, STC Holders, DER teams to diagnose structural issues and recommend repair solutions that comply regulatory standards.
  • Analyze and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to support aircraft modifications, repairs, and upgrades
  • Develop work cards specific to structural inspections, repairs, modifications and continued airworthiness
  • Works with Maintenance Teams to ensure repair documents are understood and repairs are accomplished to authorized published instructions
  • Ensures all structural repairs are accurately tracked for later analysis, e.g., Aging Aircraft
  • Provide technical expertise during aircraft inspections, maintenance checks and incident investigations related to structural integrity
  • Works with suppliers and manufacturers to evaluate materials, components and technologies for structural applications
  • Technical liaison for OEM and suppliers to ensure timely and ongoing support
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation for regulatory submissions and internal records
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in structural engineering to improve processes
  • Fosters the Company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • FAA Mechanic Certificate with a rating of Airframe & Powerplant or foreign equivalent
  • Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) in Aviation (any discipline) or a related technical field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in related engineering and/or aircraft maintenance
  • Requires a thorough understanding and working knowledge of all appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements of 14 CFR. (i.e., Parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, and 121) and manuals required by 14 CFR Parts 121 and 133
PREFERRED

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Aviation (any discipline)
  • Six Sigma or Lean Processes, certificate
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

DECISION MAKING

Makes day to day decisions used to support strategic direction. Decisions require thought and may not be structured. Decisions tend to be short term and usually of moderate cost.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Able to move about the work environment.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear.
  • Able to lift or move up to 10 pounds occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • May be required to work in open airplane hangars up to 10% of the time.
  • May work in high, precarious places, exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and encounters risk of electrical shock up to 35% of the time.
  • Works near moving mechanical up to 70% of the time.
  • Occasionally exposed to very loud noise (examples: plane engines).
  • Able to work weekends, holidays, night shift, and overtime, as required.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel up to 25% of the time, including overnight stays.
