Job Overview
The Advanced Technology PM Support Engineer Level 1 is part of the Unified Support Team. The role provides technical support to Bastian Solutions customers, projects complex support cases, performs root‑cause analysis, and works 24/7 with frequent short‑notice travel. Additional tasks include controls‑systems electrical design using AutoCAD, customer training, on‑site debugging, project closeout procedures, and customer visits.
Job Functions- Provide technical support for a range of technologies including Auto Store, Swisslog, Scallog, Ultra, Exotec, Controls, and any future technologies that come into support.
- PM Auto Store Grid remediation and provide detailed reports.
- Deploy firmware updates for Auto Store, Exotec, etc.
- Highly skilled in providing root‑cause analysis (RCAs) and Five Whys reports, working closely with the Quality team.
- Deliver feedback to the project design/standards team from the findings in the RCA reports.
- Provide a weekly written update on projects, including financial and milestone status. Publish weekly internal and external project status reports throughout the project life cycle.
- Coordinate using Gantt charts with all subcontractors and internal Bastian teams to align on‑site resources.
- Work with Solutions Delivery and Unified Support Manager to develop and operate the 24/7 Support Program.
- Assist in ensuring all final As‑Built documentation is delivered to the customer, including all drawings, training materials, and maintenance manuals.
- Develop an in‑depth understanding of all facets of material handling, including equipment, suppliers, and applications.
- Timely completion of all reports and logs to include time reports and travel expenses.
- Maintain a consistent positive and enthusiastic attitude.
- Timely communication of all concerns and issues with the Solutions Delivery/Unified Support Manager.
- Pursue professional training and certifications.
- Demonstrate commitment and passion for Bastian Solutions and our future.
- Maintain satisfied customers by resolving issues quickly.
- Customer service, satisfaction, and goodwill during implementation and during support (as measured by our customers).
- Become an expert on equipment, suppliers, and applications.
- Assist Design Engineers on quoting and system proposals.
- Willingness to step up and assist other positions within the Systems Group.
- Demonstrated Leadership and Management.
- Improve project execution processes.
- Consistently communicate with the Solutions Delivery/Unified Support Manager both good news and bad news. Complete task list items on time.
- Develop repeat customers.
- Any and all job duties as assigned.
- 25% overnight travel (travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology.
- 2+ years of project management experience.
- Auto Store experience.
- Automation/Robotics/ASRS experience.
- Demonstrated skills in customer relations.
- Excellent project management skills. PMP certification preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Enjoys helping customers, both internal and external to the company.
- Hands‑on technical problem‑solving capabilities: mechanical, electrical, network, software, and controls.
- Experience in the material handling industry.
- Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
