Overview
V2X is growing! V2X is looking for a Project Engineer I to join our team. The Project Engineering discipline leads dynamic and multidiscipline development teams over diverse product lines. The Project Engineer will join our Project Engineering department in Indianapolis, IN, leading the development of various air-based systems. The Project Engineer I will support all phases of the development process, working across disciplines to support the development of technical solutions and supporting a multi-discipline team, which includes Systems, Hardware, and Software Engineering functions, as well as other disciplines such as Production, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance.
The Project Engineer will work in a fast-paced environment providing technical leadership to design, develop, and deliver products to support the lifecycle of the program.
The Project Engineer I will support the coordination and organization of the technical project team, including ensuring all disciplines on the program execute within the established program budget and schedule. The Project Engineer coordinates the development of spend plans, staffing plans, the project schedule, and the program organizational chart. The Project Engineer I will support the creation of the project backlog, write user stories, and support management of releases for Agile Projects.
The Project Engineer I will support project reviews, including creating and presenting program cost, schedule and measurement data to business leadership and customers. The Project Engineer will participate in Program Review preparations, supporting the program manager in the development of program review data for business leadership. The Project Engineer I will support proposals within the WSI Program areas, including assembling engineering estimates, supporting Basis of Estimates (BOEs), and supporting the writing and review of proposal volumes.
Responsibilities- Support all phases of the development process across multiple disciplines (Systems, Hardware, Software, Production, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance).
- Lead the development of technical solutions and drive program plans to meet requirements and cost targets.
- Coordinate technical project team activities to ensure adherence to budget and schedule.
- Develop spend plans, staffing plans, project schedules, and program organizational charts.
- Create the project backlog, write user stories, and manage releases for Agile projects.
- Prepare and present program cost, schedule, and measurement data to leadership and customers.
- Assist in program review preparations and data development for business leadership.
- Support proposals within the program areas, including engineering estimates and Basis of Estimates (BOEs).
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Systems Engineering knowledge – Requirements Management, IV&V experience, and lifecycle management of projects.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create and maintain project plans, including leading and coordinating project tailoring.
- Ability to monitor and measure project performance.
- Ability to become proficient in Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Ability to gain or current US Government Secret Security Clearance.
- US Citizenship required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, and Windows; proficient with Microsoft Project and scheduling practices.
- Basic understanding of reading and comprehending drawings, specifications, and other technical information.
- Organization of project teams to manage issues throughout the development life cycle.
- Technical leadership capabilities to resolve tough technical challenges.
- Experience with traditional and Agile teams.
- Experience creating/managing backlogs in Azure Dev Ops or similar.
- Proposal development experience.
- Ability to maintain high performance in a dynamic, team-based environment.
- Ability to assimilate inputs from multiple sources and derive operational requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
- Proficiency using CREO or other CAD programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related field.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0+ is strongly desired.
