Resident Project Representative

Job Description

The Resident Project Representative will oversee on-site observations to monitor progress and ensure the quality of work aligns with contract documents. This role serves as the engineer's liaison with the contractor, maintaining comprehensive records including a daily logbook and drawings with authorized changes. The representative will review contractor applications for payment and execute additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

+ Remain on the job site for the entirety of the project's construction.

+ Maintain detailed reports of work progress and contractor compliance with the progress schedule.

+ Review progress schedules, shop drawings, sample submittals, and other contractor-prepared documents.

+ Attend various meetings with contractors, including preconstruction, progress, and job conferences.

+ Comply with site safety programs.

+ Assist the engineer in serving as the owner's liaison with the contractor, obtaining additional details as required.

+ Review and verify applications for payment for compliance with established procedures.

+ Forward any recommendations to the assigned engineer.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

+ Professional experience in the construction and/or inspection of underground utilities systems, such as water lines, sanitary sewer lines, storm sewer lines, and water/wastewater treatment plants.

+ Ability to read civil construction plans and specifications.

+ Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.

+ Experience working with civil construction, especially in inspection roles.

+ Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and stay overnight as needed.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience working for a civil consulting firm or from the contractor side.

+ Experience in construction oversight and civil inspection.

+ Knowledge of testing procedures such as Pressure Testing, Air Testing, Hydrostatic Testing, Disinfection Testing, Vacuum Testing, and Mandrel Testing.

+

Experience with water/wastewater engineering projects.

Work Environment

The role requires significant travel, with projects spanning the state of Indiana. Candidates must be willing to travel overnight and stay in hotels or company-paid apartments when necessary. Personal vehicle use is required, with mileage reimbursed at 70 cents per mile. The workday runs from 7 AM to 4 PM, with potential for overtime. The representative will work independently on one project at a time, fostering a sense of ownership and direct collaboration with project managers.

The position provides a stable, long-term opportunity with potential for performance evaluations and yearly pay increases. Water/Wastewater Engineering is a recession-proof field, offering work that has a significant impact on local communities. Candidates will need to work up to 50+ hours as needed, and they will be part of a team of 25-28 Resident Project Representatives.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $39.42/hr.
