Position OverviewAs the Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all financial activities and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for managing the organization s financial operations, developing budgets, monitoring cash flow, and providing strategic financial guidance to the leadership team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in non-profit financial management, exceptional analytical skills, and a passion for our mission.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, to the executive team and the Board of Directors.
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger maintenance.
- Oversee budget planning and forecasting processes in collaboration with program managers and department heads.
- Monitor cash flow, investment activities, and financial performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate annual audits and tax filings, ensuring timely submission and compliance with all reporting obligations.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and guidance to support decision-making processes and long-term organizational sustainability.
- Collaborate with development and fundraising teams to track and report on grant funds, donations, and restricted funds.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and best practices in non-profit financial management, and recommend adjustments to policies and procedures as needed.
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in financial management, preferably in a non-profit organization.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and non-profit accounting standards.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems, such as Quick Books, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and trends.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven leadership abilities and experience managing a team of finance professionals.
