Full-Time, Nights
The Medical Laboratory Scientist at the LAB performs laboratory tests on patient specimens and provides information for the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of diseases. Maintains records of performance and utilizes independent judgment to generate acceptable test results within quality control standards. May participate in research and development activities, act as a key resource, instruct staff, and work on procedure development.
Responsibilities- Perform laboratory tests on patient specimens.
- Maintain records of performance and use independent judgment for quality control.
- Participate in research and development activities.
- Act as a key resource for staff inside and outside the department.
- Instruct students, laboratory and non-laboratory staff on laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Perform all tasks according to standard operating procedures.
- Work on the development and modification of procedures.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related sciences.
- One (1) year of relevant experience.
- Certification or eligibility for board certification by ASCP, AMT, NCA or equivalent within 12 months of employment.
- Knowledge of various complex laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of specialized testing equipment and routine maintenance procedures.
- Ability to maintain quality control and other records.
- Proficiency in using computer to enter and retrieve test results.
- Analytical skills to make quantitative and qualitative observations.
- Ability to work independently; handle constant interruptions and concurrent tasks.
- Knowledge of all laboratory safety regulations and protocols.
