Overview
Job Purpose:
The ideal candidate for the House Mentor position is a highly motivated, responsible, organized individual passionate about working with youth and families. This role involves providing supervision and oversight to residents in our Emergency Shelter Care and Transitional Living programs. The House Mentor will ensure that our four pillars of wellness—Educated, Creative, Disciplined, and Healed—are integrated into all service delivery and that program implementation adheres to grant guidelines, VOICES policies, and timely reporting requirements.
Shift information: 2nd Shift 3:30 pm to 11:00 pm;
Overnight Shift 11:00 pm to 7:00 am.
- Direct Resident Care:
Provide a safe and therapeutic environment through treatment plan implementation, utilizing individual and group instruction in daily living activities. - Advocacy and Mentorship:
Act as an advocate, educator, mentor, and role model for VOICES Services. - Program Planning:
Plan and implement program activities aligned with the organization's mission and goals. - Program Evaluation:
Conduct program evaluations in collaboration with staff and youth participants, preparing for internal and external evaluations/audits. - Administrative Participation:
Attend monthly VOICES administrative meetings. - Quality Assurance:
Ensure adherence to QA/QI procedures. - Resident Support:
Provide monthly support, discussing needs, progress, or concerns with all residents. - Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive documentation and recordkeeping for licensing, regulations, and contracting purposes. - Time Management:
Manage timelines and coordinate stakeholder involvement.
- Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth and families or in a related field. - Crisis Management:
Ability to implement Individual Crisis Management Plans effectively. - Trauma-Informed Care:
Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Trauma-Informed Care and Healing Centered Engagement and implement best practices. - Confidentiality:
Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with internal and external partners. - Boundaries:
Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and set limits while working with residents. - Person-Centered Planning:
Experience with person-centered planning approaches and positive behavioral supports preferred. - Background Checks:
Must pass all local, state, and federal background checks.
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent:
Required.
- Driver s License: A valid driver s license is necessary, with a driving record that adheres to VOICES policy guidelines.
