Job SummaryThe Senior Director Data Platforms is responsible for leading a team of data and application engineers who deliver new and support existing capabilities of data at rest, data in motion, and the exposure of data for consumption by the enterprise. This area works closely with peers and other stakeholders to define and execute work that aligns with One America’s vision and goals.
Collaborating with the Chief Data Officer and various leaders, the Sr. Director Data Platforms will help shape the transformation of our data environment and the ability of our One America Associates to have access to usable data. This role is accountable building a strategy and executing the roadmap for how we deliver and support data at One America to meet enterprise needs.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Be a thought leader in collaborating on the on-going strategic initiatives ensuring IT meets the enterprise business needs
- Cultivate a high-performing team providing ongoing guidance, mentorship, growth and learning opportunities
- Support and champion agile methodologies and other change initiatives cultivating an environment where transparency, speed, quality and innovation are at the forefront
- Accomplish results, create value, and improve IT culture and employee engagement by effectively communicating expectations; maintaining an empowered and innovative culture; understanding staff skills, challenges, and ambitions; planning, monitoring, and discussing results; coaching, counseling, and motivating; implementing and enforcing standards policies and procedures
- Manage external 3rd party vendors that support the Data Delivery function, including both managed service agreements and staff augmentation agreements, contract negotiation and execution, and SLA reporting and management
- Participate in external industry stakeholders and peer groups to maintain industry knowledge and identify best practices
- Manage to a departmental budget and track the impact of expenses on the overall IT budget including advocating for specific talent acquisition, training, compensation, and performance-based adjustments
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline
- Master's degree in Data Analytics or similar field preferred/recommended
- 7+ years of people leadership experience
- 15+ years of Data experience
- 5+ years of 3rd party vendor management or related experience
- Experience leading large-scale implementations
- Experience driving results from 3rd party vendors
- Demonstrated experience building and managing high velocity teams
- Experience establishing and leading a COE and integration efforts, preferred
- Experience coaching and developing business and technical resources into high potential employees
- Experience utilizing Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Experience managing a matrix organizational structure
Salary Band: 8C
This selected candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Indianapolis, IN. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
