Position: Stewardship & Engagement Officer

This position requires working in the Indianapolis office at least three days per week, with the potential for additional in-office days as needed.

POSITION OBJECTIVE/JOB SUMMARY:

The Stewardship & Engagement Officer is a highly professional position on the Kiwanis Childrens Fund fundraising team. They will work closely with the Director of Development, Senior Community Impact Officer, and other Childrens Fund staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of fundraising strategies and stewardship efforts to support the annual campaign and interpret the Kiwanis mission and causes. They will achieve this goal by executing excellent fundraising skills utilizing organization, creativity, and multi-tasking to manage multiple projects and prospects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Fundraising (50%)

Actively impact KCF fundraising through three specific areas.

  • Volunteer management:
    Provide support and guidance to Kiwanis Childrens Fund volunteers through creation of materials, sharing fundraising best practices, and sharing of information so volunteers can successfully solicit Kiwanis Clubs.
  • Mass appeals:
    Work with Associate Director of Development and the Director of Development to create aggressive mass appeal campaigns through various mediums designed to solicit members and clubs for gifts.
  • Direct support to fundraising team:
    Assist Director of Development, fundraising team, and volunteer fundraisers in executing fundraising cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects, individual gift prospects, and club pledge prospects.

Stewardship (50%)

Positively impact the donor experience through the following areas.

  • Stewardship plan:
    Create and implement a comprehensive stewardship plan to thank all donors, especially Major Gift donors and specific clubs, in concert with the fundraising team and to proactively inform them of the impact of their donations. This should be done through specific communication vehicles, special events, and more.
  • Programmatic impact:
    In collaboration with the Senior Community Impact Officer, synthesize grantmaking data and stories to produce compelling, usable materials around its impact.
  • Work cross-functionally within Kiwanis to share Childrens Fund mission with key stakeholders such as major gift donors, influential Kiwanis leaders and potential new Childrens Fund influencers.

Other duties as assigned, trained for, and qualified to do.

Educational requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required. Degree in a nonprofit field is preferred

Experiential requirements:

  • 1-2 years of related experience (a Masters degree in a nonprofit related field equates to 1 year of experience)
  • Demonstrated fundraising success or nonprofit experience.
  • History of success working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to speak effectively in front of groups.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Analytical, with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and organize and prioritize work.
  • Excellent project management experience and multi-tasking skills.
  • Volunteer management experience in a not-for-profit or service organization is highly desired.

Required skills:

  • Excellent relationship builder
  • Writing proficiency
  • Microsoft Office products, with proficiency in Power Point
  • Internet proficiency including social media
  • Google Suite products, including email, calendar, and documents a plus
  • Raisers Edge knowledge preferred

Other requirements:

  • Kiwanis Family experience a plus
  • Experience working with a nonprofit or membership-based organization a plus
  • Multilingual a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS/OTHER INFORMATION

  • Flexibility to work some evenings or weekends
  • Some travel required
  • Requires sitting at a computer for a large portion of the day
  • Requires responding to phone calls and emails
  • Requires ability to work remotely or in a hybrid work environment
