The Building Maintenance Technician at Leo Chevrolet of Indy plays a critical role in ensuring the facility operates smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components for our Indy Store along with our Lebanon store. The technician will proactively identify potential issues and implement preventative measures to minimize downtime and maintain a safe environment for employees and customers.
Collaboration with management and external contractors is essential to coordinate larger repair projects and upgrades. Ultimately, this role supports the dealership’s operational excellence by maintaining a well-functioning, clean, and safe facility.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in building maintenance or a related technical field.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and safety regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing trades.
- Experience working in an automotive dealership or commercial facility.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Training in OSHA safety standards and procedures.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal operation.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to provide timely and effective repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or large-scale maintenance projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes, and promote a safe working environment throughout the facility.
The Building Maintenance Technician utilizes technical skills daily to diagnose and repair complex building systems, ensuring minimal disruption to dealership operations. Proficiency in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems allows the technician to perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs efficiently. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with management, vendors, and team members to schedule repairs and upgrades. Organizational skills help maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and inventory, supporting operational transparency and planning.
Additionally, adherence to safety protocols and regulations is critical to protect personnel and property, making safety awareness a key component of daily work.
