As a Parent Education Facilitator (1099 Contractor), you will play a vital role in helping parents involved with DCS improve their parenting skills, understand child development, and promote safe and nurturing home environments. Through structured, evidence-based parenting education and coaching, you will empower families to build stronger relationships and achieve sustainable change.
You will work directly in the homes and communities of referred clients, providing hands‑on support, individualized education sessions, and behavior modeling. This position involves collaboration with DCS case managers and other professionals to align services with the family’s case plan and court requirements. This role is ideal for someone passionate about family engagement, culturally responsive services, and helping parents break cycles of trauma and instability through knowledge, practice, and encouragement.
Requirements- Provide individualized, in‑home or community‑based parenting education to families referred by DCS.
- Use approved curricula to teach parenting skills, discipline strategies, communication, child development, and positive behavior reinforcement.
- Observe and model appropriate parent‑child interactions.
- Assist families in setting and working toward parenting goals that align with DCS plans.
- Document session progress, maintain accurate records, and submit timely reports.
- Attend case conferences and collaborate with DCS and other service providers as needed.
- Maintain flexible scheduling to accommodate families, including some evenings and weekends.
- Ensure services are trauma‑informed, culturally competent, and strength‑based.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- At least 4 years of full‑time employment experience providing direct casework services to children and/or families, including assistance in the protection and care of their children.
- Strong documentation, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries.
- Must pass background checks as required by DCS guidelines (criminal, educational, references, employment, and child protective services).
- Shared life experiences and familiarity with the communities where they will be working.
- Must be able to carry appropriate caseloads.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to use a private car, with applicable insurance, to transport self and others.
- Familiarity with DCS protocols and Indiana child welfare services is preferred.
- Willingness to drive within assigned counties.
- Must maintain a variety of insurances as a 1099 contractor, including general and professional liability, auto, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or related field (required as a supervisor).
