Pre‑K Teacher
LELAND SCHOOL DISTRICT
Position OverviewThe Pre‑K Teacher creates a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children ages 3–5. This role fosters social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth through structured activities, play‑based learning, and individualized instruction.
Key Responsibilities- Curriculum & Instruction:
Planning and implementing age‑appropriate lessons aligned with early childhood standards. - Incorporating play, storytelling, music, art, and movement into daily activities.
- Differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Classroom Management:
Establishing a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment. - Guiding children in developing social skills, self‑regulation, and independence.
- Maintaining routines that support stability and predictability.
- Assessment & Communication:
Observing and documenting student progress and developmental milestones. - Communicating regularly with parents/guardians about student growth and needs.
- Collaborating with colleagues and administrators to support student success.
- Professional Standards:
Adhering to state licensing requirements and school policies. - Participating in ongoing professional development.
- Modeling respect, empathy, and enthusiasm for learning.
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (required/preferred).
- State teaching certification/licensure for Pre‑K or Early Childhood (as applicable).
- Prior experience working with young children in a classroom or childcare setting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to foster creativity, curiosity, and a love of learning.
- Full‑time, school‑year schedule.
- Classroom environment with active engagement in indoor and outdoor activities.
- Requires physical stamina to interact with young children (e.g., sitting on the floor, lifting up to 25 lbs).
