Position OverviewThe Metal Fabrication Instructor will provide high-quality instruction and training to students in the technical center's metal fabrication program. This role is responsible for preparing students with the knowledge, skills, and safety practices required for careers in welding, machining, and fabrication industries. The instructor will design engaging lessons, supervise hands‑on projects, and foster a learning environment that emphasizes technical proficiency, problem‑solving, and workplace readiness.
Key Responsibilities- Instruction & Curriculum:
Teach courses in metal fabrication, welding, blueprint reading, machining, and related technical skills. - Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with industry standards and certification requirements.
- Incorporate safety protocols and OSHA standards into all instructional activities.
- Provide individualized support to students with varying skill levels.
- Hands‑On Training:
Supervise students in the use of fabrication tools, welding equipment, CNC machines, and measuring instruments. - Demonstrate proper techniques for cutting, forming, assembling, and finishing metal components.
- Oversee student projects that simulate real‑world fabrication tasks.
- Program Development:
Maintain and update curriculum to reflect current industry practices and emerging technologies. - Collaborate with local employers and advisory boards to ensure program relevance.
- Prepare students for industry‑recognized certifications (e.g., AWS, NCCER).
- Classroom & Lab Management:
Ensure safe and efficient operation of the fabrication lab and equipment. - Monitor inventory of tools, materials, and supplies.
- Enforce school policies and maintain a professional learning environment.
- Student Success:
Mentor students in career readiness, including employability skills, teamwork, and communication. - Support students in securing internships, apprenticeships, or job placements.
- Track student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in welding, machining, or fabrication.
- Prior teaching or training experience preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Commitment to student success and workforce development.
