Wellness Equity Alliance is a national public health organization working with underrepresented communities to address health‑care disparities and social determinants of health. The WEA team rapidly assembles multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to respond to population health crises.

Job Description

The Crisis Stabilization Clinician provides rapid assessment, intervention, and short‑term support for youth, adults, and families experiencing intense behavioral health needs. This position focuses on helping people stabilize quickly, engage natural supports, and transition safely to ongoing community care. Clinicians work across a variety of crisis settings and support individuals with co‑occurring mental health and substance use challenges.

• Provide timely mental health assessments for children, teens, adults, and older adults.
• Offer crisis counseling, emotional support, and developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions.
• Monitor client needs during the stabilization period and adjust plans to support progress.
• Engage family members and caregivers to promote safety and support recovery.
• Support individuals experiencing co‑occurring substance use concerns through education, early intervention, and care linkage.

• Work closely with internal clinical team members including counseling staff, peer support, nursing, and psychiatry.
• Develop and implement individualized safety plans and transition plans.
• Coordinate referrals and warm handoffs to outpatient mental health treatment, SUD programs, youth services, and other community supports.
• Build positive working relationships with schools, social services, hospitals, and crisis response partners.

• Document assessments, interventions, and progress clearly and promptly.
• Maintain professional communication with clients, families, and partner agencies to ensure continuity of care.

• Licensed LCSW or LMFT in California – or associate‑level clinician (ASW/AMFT) working toward licensure with supervision.
• Experience providing crisis intervention, counseling, or behavioral health services.
• Ability to support individuals and families during moments of high distress with empathy and professionalism.
• Knowledge of short‑term treatment approaches and safety planning.

• Strong teamwork and communication skills

• Experience working with youth services and family systems.
• Experience supporting dual‑diagnosis clients.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish strongly preferred).
• Familiarity with community mental health resources.
